Eagles land two transfers
The University of Southern Indiana softball team announced that sophomore utility player Audra Lindenschmidt (Evansville, Indiana) and junior pitcher/outfielder Lindsey McNaughton (Carmel, Indiana) will transfer to USI for the 2005 season. They are the eighth players to join USI Head Coach Sue Kunkle’s Screaming Eagles since the early signing period last season.
Lindenschmidt comes to USI after spending last season with the cross-town University of Evansville Aces. She hit .235 with three RBIs during her freshman season in 2004.
A graduate of Harrison High School, Lindenschmidt was a 2003 first-team All-State selection as well as a 2003 All-Metro shortstop. She was a three-time All-SIAC selection who set single-season records at HHS for batting average, on-base percentage, hits, runs, doubles, walks, and steals as well as career records for batting average, walks, hits, RBIs, runs, doubles, walks, and stolen bases.
“Audra will bring tremendous talent to our infield as well as the outfield. She comes from a great program at UE and her experience there will be very beneficial to our program. Our staff is expecting her to be an impact player immediately.”
McNaughton comes to USI from Hillsdale College where she hits .245 with a homerun and 11 RBIs as a sophomore in 2004. She also went 9-8 with a 1.93 ERA as a pitcher in 2004.
A graduate of Carmel High School, McNaughton led Hillsdale in victories as a freshman and sophomore and had a team-best 1.67 ERA as a freshman in 2003. She was 7-5 in 2003 and hit .281 with five RBIs and five doubles during her freshman campaign for the Chargers.
“Lindsey will add more experience to our pitching staff and our outfield. She comes from a recognizable program with talent and knowledge of the game.”
