Eagles sweep Rockhurst
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team scored a combined 15 runs off 19 hits to sweep a GLVC doubleheader from Rockhurst University, 6-1 and 9-1, Saturday afternoon at the USI Softball Field.
USI (14-9, 3-1 GLVC) won the second game via the eight-run rule in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Screaming Eagles return to action Sunday when they host the University of Missouri-Rolla in a GLVC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for noon.

USI broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning when it exploded for four runs. The Eagles took advantage of a pair of Rockhurst errors in the inning to provide senior pitcher Missy Grover
(Mishawaka, Indiana) all the support she would need to pick up her eighth straight victory.
Grover (8-4) gave up just one run off five hits in seven innings of work. She also had five strike outs while recording just one walk.
Offensively, senior catcher Angie Davis
(Greenwood, Indiana) recorded a pair of RBIs, while sophomore third baseman Kristin Eickholt
(Van Wert, Ohio) went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.
USI did a great job of moving the runners in the first game as three players recorded sacrifice bunts for the Eagles in the victory.

The Eagles scored a run in the second inning, three in both the third and fourth innings, and a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to complete the two-game sweep of the Hawks.
Sophomore outfielder Kathy Wood
(Lynnville, Indiana) went 3-for-4 in the game with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs, while Eickholt was 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in. USI also got RBIs from junior second baseman Audra Lindenschmidt
(Evansville, Indiana), senior pitcher Lindsey McNaughton
(Carmel, Indiana), freshman outfielder Ally McKinley
(Sullivan, Indiana), and senior shortstop Krista Nugent
McNaughton (6-5) picked up the victory for the Eagles after carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning. She gave up just one run on three hits, while striking out five batters and allowing just one walk.
