Kunkle named GLVC Coach of the Year,
Five Eagles land on All-GLVC teams

2006 All-GLVC Teams

Sue Kunkle

PEORIA, Ill.University of Southern Indiana softball Head Coach Sue Kunkle was named the GLVC Coach of the Year and five Screaming Eagles were named to the All-Conference team as announced at the GLVC Softball Awards Breakfast Saturday morning.

Kunkle directed the Eagles to the second seed in the GLVC Tournament with a regular-season mark of 35-14, 17-5 in the GLVC. It is the first time in her career that she has been named the GLVC Coach of the Year and fourth time in the history of the USI softball program that a USI coach has garnered the honor.

Missy Grover

Senior pitcher Missy Grover (Mishawaka, Indiana) and senior catcher Angie Davis (Greenwood, Indiana) were named first-time All-League, while senior pitcher Lindsey McNaughton (Carmel, Indiana), sophomore leftfielder Kathy Wood (Lynnville, Indiana), and sophomore third baseman Kristin Eickholt (Van Wert, Ohio) were named to the second team.

Grover, who is earning All-GLVC honors for the second time, posted a 19-6 mark and a 1.91 ERA in the pitching circle for the Eagles during the regular season. She was third in the GLVC in victories and is 2-0 in the GLVC Tournament heading into Saturday's action.

Angie Davis

Davis, who is earning All-League honors for the first time, hit .338 and drove in 37 runs during the regular season. She also had a pair of home runs and ranked fourth in the GLVC in RBIs.

Lindsey McNaughton

Like Davis, McNaughton is on the All-GLVC team for the second time. McNaughton, who was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performer as a sophomore at Hillsdale, was 16-8 during the regular season with a 1.81 ERA. She also helped herself from the plate where she hit a team-high four home runs and drove in 19 runs.


Eickholt also is on the All-GLVC team for the first time after hitting .338 with a team-leading 38 RBIs during the regular season. She led the GLVC with a school-record 18 doubles and was third in the conference in RBIs.
