Jessica Huff joins coaching staff
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team announced that former University of Evansville standout Jessica Huff is joining its coaching staff in 2006-07. Huff will assist Head Coach Sue Kunkle in all aspects of the USI softball program. She replaces former Assistant Coach Annie Medico, who took the head coaching job at Drury University.
Huff, who most recently served as the head coach at Bosse High School, was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year as well as a two-time Easton All-American at Evansville. She hit .375 with 11 doubles, four triples, four home runs, and 29 RBIs during her senior year.
During her four seasons at UE, Huff was a three-time All-MVC and All-Region selection. Huff, who set nine career marks at UE, finished her collegiate career as the MVC's all-time leader in hits (254) and doubles (56). She also finished second all-time in the MVC in RBIs (145), third all-time in home runs (23), and fifth all-time in runs scored (134).
Her success on the diamond translated into the coaching ranks where she led BHS to its best record in 10 years.
"Coach Huff has already demonstrated her ability to succeed in the coaching world and brings that added experience and knowledge to our staff," Kunkle said. "She was a tremendous catcher and an outstanding offensive player during her college career and I think that experience will add a lot of improvements to our offensive game. We are excited to have her on board!"
A native of Evansville and a graduate of North High School, Huff is a member of NHS's Hall of Fame. She was an All-Metro Player of the Year in 1996 and 1997.
Huff graduated from UE in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
