USI-KWC softball moved to Tuesday
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana-Kentucky Wesleyan College softball doubleheader has been moved to Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Foster Field in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Due to the threat of rain on the originally scheduled date of Wednesday, the games were moved up a day to provide for a better chance that they will be played.
USI (25-21, 9-9 GLVC) enters this week's games in a tie for seventh in the GLVC standings with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside after going 3-1 in league play this past weekend.
Though the Screaming Eagles are in seventh in the conference standings, they are within striking range of third place as they sit just two games back in the loss column to third-place Saint Joseph's College (13-7 GLVC).
The Eagles are just a game-back in the loss column of the University of Indianapolis (12-8 GLVC), Quincy University (12-8 GLVC), and the University of Missouri-Rolla (12-8 GLVC), and are a game ahead of UW-Parkside (10-10 GLVC) in the loss column.
USI can clinch its 15th consecutive berth into the GLVC Tournament with three wins in its final six games or two wins and a University of Missouri-St. Louis loss or one win and two UM-St. Louis losses.
The Eagles finish the regular-season this weekend when they host Saint Joseph's Saturday and Indianapolis Sunday. Both GLVC doubleheaders are slated for noon starts at the USI Softball Field.
USI will honor its four seniors—catcher Lisa Anderson (Chesterton, Indiana), second baseman Audra Lindenschmidt (Evansville, Indiana), first baseman Jenn Mullikin (Greenwood, Indiana), and outfielder Nikki Nichols (Henderson, Kentucky)—Sunday as part of its Senior Day and USI Varsity Club Day festivities.
