Schneider named GLVC Pitcher of the Week
University of Southern Indiana softball junior pitcher Stephanie Schneider
(Birdseye, Indiana) has been named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week after leading the Screaming Eagles inside the pitching circle last week.
Schneider, who is earning the honor for the first time in her career, went 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA and a .164 opponent batting average.
She started the week by spreading two runs off four hits throughout seven innings in USI's 3-2 win over Rockhurst University.
In USI's 4-0 victory over Bellarmine University, Schneider scattered seven hits throughout seven innings while not allowing a walk to record her first shutout of the season. Schneider came back the following day and tossed a one-hit shutout in the Eagles' 6-0 victory over Northern Kentucky University.
For the season, Schneider is 7-3 with a 3.87 ERA. She was 3-2 a year ago with a 1.01 ERA before a knee injury cost her most of the 2007 campaign.
Schneider, who is majoring in Pre-Social Work, came to the Eagles after two stellar seasons at Parkland College. She is a graduate of Forrest Park High School in Ferdinand, Indiana.
USI (23-15, 10-4 GLVC) is currently tied for second in the GLVC standings and is fourth in the latest NCAA II Great Lakes Region standings. The Eagles host Hillsdale College in a Great Lakes Region doubleheader Wednesday at the USI Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
