GLVC Tournament Central
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team will face the University of Indianapolis in the first round of the GLVC Tournament Thursday at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.
USI (31-21, 14-10 GLVC) is the fifth seed, while the Greyhounds (34-24, 16-10 GLVC) are the fourth seed. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m.
The Screaming Eagles began their GLVC schedule with Indianapolis back in March by splitting a doubleheader in Indianapolis, Indiana. USI won the first game, 7-3, but lost the second game, 12-11, on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning.
If the Eagles get past Indianapolis in the first round, they would meet the winner of top-seeded Lewis University and eighth-seeded University of Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday at 4 p.m. A loss in the first round would mean the Eagles would have to play in the elimination bracket, slated for Thursday at 2 p.m., against the loser of the contest features second-seeded Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and seventh-seeded University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The other first-round match up Thursday features third-seeded Missouri University of Science and Technology and sixth-seeded Rockhurst University.
Media Alert: USI will practice Monday and Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the USI Softball Field (weather permitting) before leaving Wednesday at noon.
