Reva LeDune |
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team announced that sophomore outfielder/utility player
Reva LeDune (Carlisle, Indiana) has signed a grant-in-aid to play for Head Coach
Sue Kunkle's Screaming Eagles in 2009.
LeDune transfers from Indiana State University where she played in 38 games as a freshman in 2008. She hit .150 with a home run, eight RBIs, and three doubles last season.
During her prep career, LeDune earned 12 varsity letters at Sullivan High School (Sullivan, Indiana), where she was a teammate of USI senior shortstop
Allyn McKinley.
A two-time All-Conference and All-County performer, LeDune led SHS in batting average as a sophomore (.416) and a junior (.406), tying and breaking the school's homerun record in each of those two years.
"Reva is an athletic and versatile player that will give us more options, particularly in the outfield where she has a lot of experience," Kunkle said. "She has a strong arm and good hands and can also play the infield as well as behind the plate."
LeDune joins a list of 2009 newcomers that include sophomore pitcher
Dawn McClellan (Valparaiso, Indiana), sophomore pitcher/infielder
Amanda Brendel (Salem, Illinois), sophomore third baseman/outfielder
Amanda Pravdica (Newburgh, Indiana), freshman pitcher/middle infielder
Hadley Clark (Owensboro, Kentucky), freshman catcher/utility player
Alexandra Dunfee (Mishawaka, Indiana), and freshman utility player
Lauren Smith (New Palestine, Indiana).
