USI-Bellarmine softball doubleheader moved to Friday,
Eagles reschedule Lewis twinbill for April 9
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Due to the threat of severe weather in the Louisville area Sunday, the University of Southern Indiana-Bellarmine University softball doubleheader has been moved to Friday. The GLVC twinbill, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, will begin at 2 p.m. (CDT) at Knights Field in Louisville.
USI also rescheduled its doubleheader with Lewis University. The Screaming Eagles will host the Flyers April 9 at noon at the USI Softball Field to make up last weekend's postponed contests.
In addition to Bellarmine, the Eagles (8-24, 0-6 GLVC) will visit Northern Kentucky University for a GLVC doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Eagles are looking to stop a six-game slide after dropping both sets of a two-game homestand against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Monday.
Senior shortstop Allyn McKinley (Sullivan, Indiana) is one RBI shy of 100 in her four-year career at USI. She drove in a pair of runs in the first game against the Rangers on Monday.
Sophomore infielder/pitcher Amanda Brendel (Salem, Illinois) leads the Eagles with a .311 batting average, four home runs, and 15 RBIs after going 4-of-6 with a double, a home run, and three RBIs against Wisconsin-Parkside. She also saw her first action in the pitching circle against the Rangers as she gave up two runs, one earned, off three hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Bellarmine enters Friday's contests with a 13-21 overall mark, 5-5 in the GLVC, while Northern Kentucky is 13-15 overall and 3-5 in the GLVC.
