Brendel earns All-GLVC honors

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana softball sophomore second baseman Amanda Brendel (Salem, Illinois) was named to the All-GLVC second team in a vote by the league's head coaches.

Brendel led the Screaming Eagles with seven home runs and was second on the squad in batting average (.307), doubles (10), and RBIs (26).
In her first season with the Eagles, Brendel hit .333 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. She had a season-best five-game hitting streak and had at least two hits in 11 contests this year.
The physical education major hit .396 with runners in scoring position and recorded 13 two-out RBIs.
USI, which returns all but three players in 2010, finished the season with an 18-33 record, 8-15 in the GLVC. The Eagles, who lost 13 games by one run in 2009, finished the year on a strong note. The Eagles won their last three games, including a doubleheader sweep of regionally-ranked University of Indianapolis, and nine of their final 12 contests.
