Eagles land two on Academic All-District V team
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior designated player Sara Loete (Pekin, Illinois) and senior rightfielder Lacey Ligmanowski (Homer Glen, Illinois) were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V team in a vote by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Loete was selected to the first team and will be eligible to earn Academic All-America honors, while Ligmanowski was selected to the second team.
An All-America honoree in 2008, Loete hit .241 with five home runs and a team-high 27 RBIs. She hit .405 with nine doubles, 10 home runs, and a school-record 54 RBIs in 2008.
Loete, a social science major with a 3.9 grade point average, hit .333 with three doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBIs in USI's last 12 games. This marks the first time in Loete's career that she has earned Academic All-District V honors.

Ligmanowski, who has a 3.94 GPA in occupational therapy, is earning Academic All-District V honors for the second time after earning third team honors in 2008. Ligmanowski, who finished her career ranked in the top five all-time at USI in four offensive categories including hits (209), runs (136), at-bats (686), and home runs (14). She also ranked in the top 10 all-time at USI in RBIs (80).
In 2009, Ligmanowski hit .277 with two home runs and 18 RBIs. She hit .317 with a home run and eight RBIs in USI's final 12 games.
USI finished the 2009 season with an 18-33 overall record, 8-15 in the GLVC, but ended the season by winning nine of its final 12 games.
