USI softball slide hits six
Results and Stats
The University of Southern Indiana softball team saw its losing streak hit six games Friday afternoon at the Columbus State University Invitational in Columbus, Georgia. The Screaming Eagles are now 2-7 on the season.
USI has not had it easy as they have faced five nationally-ranked teams in its last six games. The Eagles fell to 25th-ranked Wayne State University, 7-6 in nine innings, and to the University of New Haven, 1-0, Thursday to close out the Rebel Spring Games.
The Eagles fell to 10th-ranked California University-Pennsylvania, 7-5, and 13th-ranked Kennesaw State University, 6-1, Friday to open the CSU Invitational.
Junior hurler Shannon Emmons (Boonville, Indiana) was charged with the loss in all four contests as she fell to 1-5 on the season.
Fellow classmates Brooke Biggs (Osceola, Indiana) and Kristen Houseworth (Martinsville, Indiana) led the Eagles offensively in the four losses. Biggs hit .545 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored while Houseworth hit .462 with a home run and a pair of RBIs.
USI will wrap up its spring trip and the CSU Invitational Saturday with the14th-ranked University of Alabama-Huntsville, 21st-ranked St. Cloud State University, and 22nd-ranked Columbus State University.
