Eagles among nation's best blocking teams
NCAA II Statistical Rankings
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team finished its 2008 campaign as one of the best blocking teams in the country according to the final NCAA Division II statistics, which were released Thursday.
Led by senior middle blocker Margaret Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) and junior middle blocker Ashley Henricks (Greenwood, Indiana), USI ranked first in the GLVC and eighth in the nation with 2.43 blocks per set.
Buschman, who earned second-team All-GLVC honors, ranked 20th in the country and second in the GLVC with 1.15 blocks per set, while Henricks was fifth in the GLVC with 0.99 blocks per set.
The Screaming Eagles finished the season with an 18-14 overall record, 9-8 in the GLVC, and advanced to the GLVC Championship match for the first time since 2004 and the sixth time since 2000.
