USI volleyball picked to finish second in GLVC
The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team was picked to finish second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in a vote by the leagueís coaches. It is the second consecutive season that the Screaming Eagles have been tabbed to finish second.
Northern Kentucky University was picked to finish first, with nine first-place votes, while Lewis University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville were picked to finish third and fourth, respectively. USI and SIUE split the remaining first-place votes in the poll.
USI, which finished second in the GLVC Tournament the past two seasons, returns five starters from last seasonís squad. The Eagles have posted a 49-14 record the last two seasons and will be looking for their third straight 20-win season, a task that has never been accomplished by USIís volleyball program.
The Eagles, who start practices Saturday, August 30, will open the season at the North Alabama University Tournament.
USI will get its first crack at conference opposition Friday, September 20 when it travels to the University of Indianapolis. The Eagles will host Northern Kentucky Saturday, November 2. The GLVC Tournament is slated for November 14-16.
