USI volleyball adds two local players
The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team announced that 6’1” middle hitters Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) and Andrea Reising (Evansville, Indiana) will play for the Screaming Eagles in 2003. Both will be part of six newcomers to head coach Craig Bere’s defending GLVC champions this season.
Doubler, a graduate of North Posey High School, is transferring from Winthrop University where she was red-shirted as a freshman in 2002.
As a prep at NPHS, Doubler earned first-team All-Conference honors and was named the top offensive player in 2001. A team captain at NPHS, Doubler also played USAV club volleyball for the Evansville River City Juniors.
“I am excited that Chelse has decided to join our family here at USI,” Bere said. “This will be a homecoming of sorts for her and she will have four years to compete as an Eagle. Chelse will bring a year of experience and will add depth to our squad while she challenges for a starting role.”
Reising graduated from Mater Dei High School where she earned three varsity letters in volleyball. She led MDHS in kills, recording a match-high 21, and earned first-team All-City and All-Metro honors.
MDHS won sectional championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
“Andrea Reising is a young lady that I expect to see the court in the future,” Bere predicted. “She has a lot of talent that has yet to come to the forefront, but in years to come she will be a player that is well known in our athletic department at USI. It's great to have Andrea on board.”
