Ellerbusch, Gross lift Eagles to 3-0 victory

Sophomore middle hitter Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana) and junior middle blocker Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana) recorded 17 and 14 kills, respectively, to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Saint Joseph’s College Friday night in its home-opener at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Ellerbusch recorded a match-high .625 attacking percentage and 7 blocks while Gross finished with a .440 hitting percentage and a match-high 13 digs.
The Eagles (12-13, 2-1 GLVC) took the first game 30-23 before battling back to take the second game 30-28. USI finished the match by recording a .577 attacking percentage in the final game, a game USI won 30-17.
Senior setter Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished with a match-high 32 assists.
USI will wrap up the weekend’s action with the University of Indianapolis tomorrow afternoon. Match time is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the PAC.
