USI volleyball sweeps Kentucky Wesleyan

The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team recorded 19 service aces and a .345 attacking percentage to sweep Kentucky Wesleyan College, 30-12, 30-13, 30-16, Tuesday night at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles improve to 16-6 overall and 5-4 in the GLVC while the Panthers fall to 2-16 overall and 0-9 in the GLVC.
Freshman outside hitter Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) recorded a career and match-high seven service aces, five of which came in the second game. Fellow classmate Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) finished with a career-high six service aces.
Offensively, junior middle blocker Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana) recorded a match-high 11 kills and a .625 hitting percentage to lead the Eagles attack. Gross’ performance lifted her into fifth all-time at USI in career kills (1,032).
Senior setter Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded a match-high 22 assists before giving way to freshman setter Courtney Goodman (Waterloo, Illinois) during the second game. Boehmer needs just 65 assists to reach 5,000 for her career.
The Eagles will now embark on a 10-day break before returning to action Friday, October 24, to take on Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. Match time is 7 p.m. at the Pepsi Arena.
