Four Eagles selected All-GLVC
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Four University of Southern Indiana volleyball players were selected to the All-GLVC team as announced by the league office at the GLVC Volleyball Awards Breakfast Friday morning.
Junior middle blocker Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana) and freshman setter Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) were selected to the first team, while senior middle blocker Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana) and sophomore libero Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) were selected to the second team.
Ellerbusch, who was selected second-team All-GLVC as a sophomore in 2003, led the Screaming Eagles during the regular season with 3.28 kills and 0.85 blocks per game and was second in the GLVC with a team-high .347 attacking percentage.
Wilson averaged 12.85 assists per game and set a school freshman record with 1,285 assists in the regular season. She also averaged 2.30 digs per game and attacked a .303 clip.
Gross is on the second team for the third consecutive year after averaging 3.25 kills and a .315 attacking percentage. Gross, who will be the second player in school history to finish her career with a .300 attacking percentage, is just the second player at USI to record 1,400 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
Probst, who is All-GLVC for the first time, averaged 4.16 digs per game and 5.10 digs per game since become USI’s libero in late September.
The Eagles will play the University of Indianapolis in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament tonight at 7:30. USI has advanced to the GLVC Championship match the last four seasons.
