USI volleyball signs Buschman
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team announced the signing of 6’0” freshman right side/middle hitter Meg Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) to a national letter of intent. She is the first player to sign with the Screaming Eagles’ volleyball program for the 2005 season.
Buschman is a senior at North White High School in Monon, Indiana, where she was a three-time All-Midwest Conference and All-Area performer as well as a two-time All-State honoree. She was the Midwest Conference and White County Player of the Year as a junior and a senior and competed for Junior North All-Star Team as well as the Senior North All-Star Team.
As a senior, Buschman set a school record with 508 kills and 215 blocks. She also holds the career record at NWHS for blocks and kills. Her efforts led NWHS to four sectional titles, four conference championships, and three county championships.
“I think her leadership skills are tremendous,” NWHS Head Coach Teresa McIntire said. “Her determination and being able to go the extra step for herself and her team (are tremendous). She has always worked hard both in and out of the class room.”
A three-sport star at NWHS, Buschman also brings an impressive academic resume to USI as she was second in Fine Arts at the Academic Super Bowl in 2003 and third in English at the Academic Super Bowl in 2004. She also has been a three-year member of the National Honor Society and won the German Embassy Award in 2003.
