Ryan, Wilson lift Eagles to sweep of Drury

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Junior outside hitter Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) hammered down a career-high 24 kills and sophomore setter Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) racked up a match-high 55 assists to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 30-21, 30-25, 30-27 victory over Drury University Saturday at the Physical Activities Center.
USI (11-9, 3-3 GLVC) snaps a two-match skid with the victory, while Drury (6-12, 3-4 GLVC) looses for the third consecutive time.
Ryan, who attacked at a .370 clip, racked up nine of the 24 kills in the first game and 10 in the third game. She also was one of six USI players to finish with 12 or more digs in the contest, compiling 13 in the three-game match.
Wilson added 13 digs for a Screaming Eagle squad that finished with 82 for the match. Junior libero Mandy Probst
(Wheeler, Illinois) led the squad with a match-high 17 digs and finished the contest just two digs shy of 1,000 for her career.
Senior middle blocker Laura Ellerbusch
(Newburgh, Indiana), junior outside hitter Chelse Doubler
(Griffin, Indiana), and sophomore defensive specialist Cara Keever
(Ft. Wayne, Indiana) all finished with 12 digs. Ellerbusch and Doubler added 12 kills apiece, while Ellerbusch finished with a match-high tying six blocks.
As a team, the Eagles attacked at a clip of .265, while holding Drury to an attacking percentage of .150.
USI returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. at the PAC.
