USI sweeps UMSL
Southern Indiana (16-12, 8-5 GLVC): 3
Missouri-St. Louis (6-20, 6-9 GLVC): 0
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team swept the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 3-0 (30-28, 30-24, 30-19), Friday evening in St. Louis, Missouri. The victory raises USI's record to 16-12 overall and 8-5 in the GLVC, while UMSL falls to 6-20 overall, 6-9 GLVC.
The victory also assured the Screaming Eagles a spot in the GLVC Tournament, which is scheduled for November 10-12 and hosted by the number one seed.
Junior outside hitter Chelse Doubler
(Griffin, Indiana) and junior outside hitter Emily Ryan
(Batesville, Indiana) combined for 27 of USI's 52 kills to lead the way. Doubler recorded 14 kills and a .448 hitting percentage, while Ryan was one-behind with 13 kills.
Doubler and Ryan were set-up by sophomore setter Stephanie Wilson
(Terre Haute, Indiana), who had 33 assists. Junior libero Amanda Probst
(Wheeler, Illinois) posted a team-best 19 digs.
The Eagles finish the final regular season road trip at Quincy University for a 2 p.m. Saturday match. Quincy is 4-18 overall and 2-13 in the GLVC after dropping a 3-0 decision at home to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
USI concludes the regular season next week at home with a pair of matches. The Eagles start the homestand against University of Indianapolis November 4 and finish the regular season with Senior Day November 5 against Saint Joseph's College.
