Hindman picks USI to continue volleyball career
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team announced that 5'11" freshman setter/right side hitter Kathi Hindman (Carmel, Indiana) has signed a national letter of intent to play for Head Coach Leah Mercer's Screaming Eagles in 2006.
Hindman is the first player this spring and the third since the early signing period to ink an NLI with the USI volleyball team.
Currently a senior at Westfield High School in Westfield, Indiana, Hindman was named All-Metro North Honorable Mention by the Indianapolis Star as well as All-County by the Noblesville Ledger.
She was voted WHS's top offensive player as a junior and led the team in blocks as a sophomore. Hindman finished her career at WHS ranked fifth in career blocks.
"I am excited to get such an offensive minded setter that will also prove to be a defensive threat at the net," Mercer said.
Hindman is joined by 5'10" outside hitter Courtney Bealor (LaPorte, Indiana) and 6'1" right side/middle hitter Ashley Henricks (Greenwood, Indiana) on USI's list of incoming freshmen.
