Eagles top South Dakota in four to salvage split,
Wilson notches 3,000th career assist

PENSACOLA, Fla.The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team defeated the University of South Dakota 30-22, 26-30, 30-27, 30-24 to salvage a split on the final day of the University of West Florida Invitational. The Screaming Eagles saw a two-game lead evaporate earlier in the day as they lost to Great Lakes Region foe Northwood University 25-30, 21-30, 30-25, 31-29, 15-13.

Junior setter Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) recorded her 3,000th career assist in the first game against South Dakota. She is second all-time at USI with 3,017 assists.

USI (3-1) travels to Ashland, Ohio, next Friday and Saturday to take part in the Ashland Invitational.

Northwood (2-1) 3, Southern Indiana 2

Northwood rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Eagles 3-2, handing USI its first loss of the season.

USI took advantage of Northwood's 13 service errors in games one and two to post 30-25 and 30-21 victories.

After dropping a five-point decision in game three, the Eagles bounced back from an early deficit to serve for the match point. However, the Timberwolves reeled off three straight points to post a 31-29 victory and send the match to a deciding fifth game.

In game five, USI fought back from a three-point deficit before turning a 12-8 gap into a 13-13 tie. Northwood, however, fought off the rally to post the 15-13 victory.

USI got 14 kills out of senior outside hitter Chelse Douber (Griffin, Indiana) and 10 kills out of junior middle blocker Molly Rahman (Ferdinand, Indiana).

As a team, the Eagles racked up 14 blocks, with freshman middle blocker Ashley Henricks (Greenwood, Indiana) tallying eight. Henricks also had eight kills and a match-high-tying .438 attacking percentage.

Stephanie Wilson also had a .438 attacking percentage as she finished with seven kills, 11 digs and 38 assists. USI had three players with 10 or more digs, with senior outside hitter Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) leading the way with 19.

Senior outside hitter Mandy Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) had 17 digs, while junior libero Cara Keever (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) finished with 16.

Emily Ryan notched a match-high 20 kills and Chelse Doubler chipped in 15 kills as the Eagles defeated the Coyotes in four games. Molly Rahman added 10 kills for the Eagles in the victory.

USI also got a match-high 25 digs from Mandy Probst, 24 digs from Cara Keever, and 14 digs from Ryan as the Eagles held South Dakota to a 0.79 attacking percentage.

Stephanie Wilson led the Eagles with a match-high 26 assists before giving way to freshman setter Kathi Hindman (Carmel, Indiana), who finished with 21 kills in her first collegiate match.
