Eagles fall to Indianapolis in four games

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team lost to the University of Indianapolis 23-30, 30-26, 28-30, 20-30 Friday evening at the Ruth Lilly Center.
Junior middle blocker Molly Rahman
(Ferdinand, Indiana) led USI (7-4, 1-2 GLVC) with 15 kills and a .400 attacking percentage, while senior outside hitters Chelse Doubler
(Griffin, Indiana) and Emily Ryan
(Batesville, Indiana) chipped in 13 and 10 kills, respectively.
The Eagles also got 32 assists and 12 digs from junior setter Stephanie Wilson
(Terre Haute, Indiana) and 14 digs from junior libero Cara Keever
(Ft. Wayne, Indiana).
In game one, the Screaming Eagles overcame an early four-point deficit to take a 12-11 lead. However, the Greyhounds (11-3, 3-0 GLVC) used an 8-0 run to blow the game wide open and take a one-game lead in the match.
The Eagles pushed points in the second game to turn the table on Indianapolis and tie the match at a game a piece. In the third set, USI overcame a four-point deficit to get to within a point on numerous occasions, but the Greyhounds held their ground to grab a 2-1 advantage in the match.
In game four, the Greyhounds used a .382 attacking percentage and a 19-8 run to put the finishing touches on the 3-1 victory.
USI returns to action Saturday as it takes on Saint Joseph's College at 3 p.m. in Rensselaer, Indiana.
