Eagles rally in fourth game to stop UWG comeback attempt

FLORENCE, Ala.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a seven-point deficit in game four to stop the University of West Georgia's comeback attempt and post a 30-11, 30-25, 26-30, 35-33 victory Friday night.
USI (11-6) used a 9-2 run to overcome a 23-16 deficit and rallied to score the final three points in the fourth frame to close out the victory.
The Screaming Eagles got great production out of their outside hitters. Senior Chelse Doubler
(Griffin, Indiana) led the Eagles with 16 kills to go with a .344 attacking percentage, while senior Emily Ryan
(Batesville, Indiana) added 14 kills, a .520 attacking percentage, and five blocks. Freshman Courtney Bealor
(LaPorte, Indiana) added 12 kills in the victory.
In her first collegiate start, freshman setter Kathi Hindman
(Carmel, Indiana) had a match-high 44 assists and set the Eagles offense to an attacking clip of .292. Freshman middle blocker Ashley Henricks
(Greenwood, Indiana) added seven kills, a .500 attacking percentage, and a match-high six blocks.
Defensively, the Eagles got a match-high 18 digs from junior libero Cara Keever
(Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and 15 digs from senior right side hitter Mandy Probst
(Wheeler, Illinois). Probst needs just four digs to surpass Shannon Wells on USI's all-time career list.
USI returns to action Saturday when it travels to Huntsville, Alabama, to take on the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 3 p.m.
