Eagles blast Kentucky Wesleyan in regular-season finale,

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team stormed past Kentucky Wesleyan College in its regular-season finale Saturday at the Physical Activities Center. The Screaming Eagles hit .375 as a team and held the Panthers to a -.034 attacking clip to win 30-12, 30-15, 30-11.
USI (17-10, 9-7 GLVC) got a match-high 11 kills and five service aces from freshman outside hitter Courtney Bealor
(LaPorte, Indiana), while junior middle blocker Molly Rahman
(Ferdinand, Indiana) chipped in nine kills and five aces.
Prior to the match, the Eagles honored their four seniors—outside hitters Chelse Doubler
(Griffin, Indiana) and Emily Ryan
(Batesville, Indiana), libero Mandy Probst
(Wheeler, Illinois), and outside hitter/defensive specialist Megan Wollin
(St. Peter, Illinois).
Doubler finished with seven kills, four aces, and a .429 attacking percentage, while Ryan added four kills and four digs. Probst tied junior setter Stephanie Wilson
(Terre Haute, Indiana) for a match-high nine digs, while Wollin recorded a dig in her final collegiate match at the PAC. Wilson led USI with a match-high 32 assists.
The Eagles enter next week's GLVC Tournament as the sixth seed and play the third seed, Lewis University, in the first round Thursday at noon in Edwardsville, Illinois.
No. 17 Rockhurst University, the second seed, plays the seventh seed, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Thursday at 2:30 p.m., while Northern Kentucky University and the University of Indianapolis play in the four-five match at 5 p.m. Top seed and tournament host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, ranked 14th in the nation, plays eighth-seeded Bellarmine University at 7:30 p.m. to complete the first round.
