Eagles use stifling defense to sweep KWC,
Rahman ties career-high with 10 blocks

(Ferdinand, Indiana) had 11 kills to go along with a match-high .688 attacking percentage and career-high tying 10 blocks to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 30-20, 30-12, 30-10 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday night at the Physical Activities Center.
Rahman's performance was part of a stifling defensive effort that saw the Screaming Eagles rack up 18.0 team blocks and hold the Panthers to a negative .103 attacking percentage.
Sophomore middle blocker Ashley Henricks
(Greenwood, Indiana) aided the defensive effort with eight blocks, while sophomore libero Melanie Pund
(Ferdinand, Indiana) dished in a match-high 11 digs.
USI (11-9, 6-6 GLVC) complemented the defensive effort with a solid offensive outing. The Eagles attacked at a .327 clip, including a .400 mark in the second game.
Freshman outside hitter Brittani Oliver
(Indianapolis, Indiana) led the Eagles with a match-high 12 kills, while senior setter Stephanie Wilson
(Terre Haute, Indiana) posted a match-high 26 assists in just two games of work.
Kentucky Wesleyan (4-17, 0-12 GLVC), which stayed with the Eagles point-for-point until midway through the first frame, got a team-high seven kills and nine digs from freshman outside hitter Kara Wallinger as well as a team-leading 20 assists from freshman setter Stephanie Davis.
The Eagles return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. when they host Bellarmine University at the PAC.
