Eagles picked to finish second in GLVC West Division
2008 Season Outlook
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team was picked to finish second in the GLVC West Division in a vote by the Division's coaches.
USI, which received 21 points and one first-place vote, returns nine players, five starters, from a squad that was 15-14 overall and 9-10 in the GLVC last season.
Rockhurst University was picked to finish first in the West Division as it garnered 25 points and five first-place votes, while the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Quincy University were picked to finish in a tied for third with 14 points each. Drury University (11 points) and Missouri University of Science and Technology (5 points) rounded out the West Division poll.
The University of Indianapolis edged out two-time defending GLVC Tournament champion Lewis University for first place in the GLVC East Division voting. The Greyhounds had 33 points and four first-place votes, while the Flyers had 31 points and three first-place votes.
Northern Kentucky University (29 points) and Bellarmine University (18 points) were picked to finish third and fourth respectively, while Saint Joseph's College (15 points) and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (15 points) were picked to finish in a tie for fifth. Kentucky Wesleyan College (6 points) rounded out the East Division poll.
The Screaming Eagles report to preseason camp next Monday, with practices beginning on Tuesday.
