Eagles rally, but fall in five to Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team fell to Drury University in five sets (13-25, 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 15-9) Saturday afternoon despite rallying from a one-game deficit.
Junior outside hitter Courtney Bealor
(LaPorte, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles (6-6, 1-3 GLVC) with 21 kills, while junior middle blocker Ashley Henricks
(Greenwood, Indiana) had 10 blocks (one solo and nine assists).
As a team, the Eagles finished with 16 team blocks and had a .198 attacking percentage, while holding Drury to a .162 attacking clip.
Drury (7-6, 3-2 GLVC), however, hit .355 in the second set and .250 in the third set to build a 2-1 lead in the match. The Panthers, which used a 9-0 run to open the fifth set, held USI to a .071 attacking clip in the final frame to pick up the victory.
In addition to 21 kills, Bealor also chipped in 17 digs and five block assists. Sophomore outside hitter Brittani Oliver
(Indianapolis, Indiana) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs, while junior setter Melanie Pund
(Ferdinand, Indiana) had 46 assists and 10 digs in the set back.
Sophomore libero Janae Curnutt
(Arcadia, Indiana) chipped in a team-high 21 digs, while senior middle blocker Margaret Buschman
(Reynolds, Indiana) had eight kills and six block assists in the loss.
The Eagles return to the Physical Activities Center Tuesday when they host the No. 23-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds at 7 p.m.
