EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team lost to the No. 24-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 Tuesday night at the Physical Activities Center.
The Screaming Eagles (6-7, 1-4 GLVC) battled back from large deficits in all three sets to make things interesting, but the Greyhounds used a .314 attacking percentage, including clips of .356 and .355 in the second and third frames, respectively, to hand USI its fourth straight setback.
Indianapolis (12-3, 5-1 GLVC) also held a 51-33 advantage in kills to pick up the victory.
In the opening set, the Eagles overcame a five-point deficit to force an 18-18 tie late in the frame. The Greyhounds, however, went on a 5-1 run from that point to build a comfortable cushion and pull out the three-point victory.
USI used a 6-0 run to tie the second set at 21-21, but saw the Greyhounds use a 4-2 stretch to close out the game and build a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
A 4-0 USI run tied the third set at 18, but once again, Indianapolis used a small spurt to kill the Eagles' momentum and close out the match in three sets.
