Eagles return home after month of road trips,
Host Rockhurst, Drury to begin final homestand
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—After spending nearly a month on the road, the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team returns to the Physical Activities Center Friday for its final four-match homestand. The Screaming Eagles host Rockhurst University Friday at 7 p.m. and Drury University Saturday at 3 p.m. before closing out their home slate with a pair of matches against Quincy University October 31 and November 1.
USI (12-12, 5-6 GLVC), which is currently fourth in the GLVC West Division, can move up in the conference standings with a pair of wins this weekend. If the Eagles can win twice, they will move into a tie with Rockhurst for second in the GLVC West Division.
The Eagles, who have won five of their last six matches, are looking to avenge a three-set loss to Rockhurst (15-10, 7-5 GLVC) earlier this season and are looking to bounce back after a tough 3-0 setback to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Northwood University at the Asics GLVC/GLIAC Crossover this past Saturday.
USI also is looking to avenge a five-set loss to Drury earlier this year when it squares off with the Panthers Saturday. Drury (10-14, 6-6 GLVC) is a half-match ahead of the Eagles in the GLVC West Division Standings and has lost three straight matches and six of its last seven.
For the season, senior middle blocker Margaret Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) leads the team with a .265 attacking percentage and 1.04 blocks per game, while sophomore outside hitter Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) leads the team with 2.62 kills per game. USI will honor Buschman November 1 as part of its Senior Day festivities.
