Buschman, Oliver net All-GLVC honors

EVANSVILLE, Ind.University of Southern Indiana senior middle blocker Margaret Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) and sophomore outside hitter Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) were named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference volleyball teams Thursday in a vote by the league's coaches.

Buschman, who was selected to the second team, is earning All-GLVC honors for the first time in her career after an outstanding regular season. Buschman finished the regular season ranked third in the GLVC with a team-leading 1.07 blocks per set and led the Screaming Eagles with a .279 attacking percentage.

In 2008, Buschman averaged 2.31 kills per set and recorded single-match career-highs for attacking percentage (.824) and blocks (10). Buschman, who hit .321 against GLVC opponents in 2008, is a graduate of North-White High School (Monon) and a public relations and advertising major.

Brittani Oliver

Like Buschman, Oliver is earning All-GLVC honors for the first time after a superb sophomore campaign. Oliver, who was selected to the third team, averaged a career-high 2.84 kills and 2.85 digs per set in 2008. She reached double-figure kill totals in 14 matches and racked up six double-doubles.

Oliver, who ranked eighth in the conference with 3.02 kills per set in GLVC-only matches, had a career-high 19 kills against Northern Kentucky University earlier this season and a season-high 20 digs in USI's 3-2 victory over Northern Michigan University. Oliver is a graduate of Warren Central High School (Indianapolis) and a psychology major.

The Eagles (16-14, 9-8 GLVC) open the GLVC Tournament against Northern Kentucky (27-6, 16-2 GLVC) Friday at noon in Romeoville, Illinois. USI is the third seed from the GLVC West Division, while the Norse are the second seed from the East Division.
