Post season honors continue for Eagles’ volleyball
University of Southern Indiana volleyball outside hitter Kristi Kavanaugh (Montgomery, Indiana) was selected first-team Verizon Academic All-District V in a vote done by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Kavanaugh was named second-team Verizon Academic All-District V as a sophomore in 2000.
Kavanaugh helped the Screaming Eagles to their second-consecutive 20-win season and the Great Lakes Valley Conference title match for the second time in as many years. The Elementary Education major led USI with 2.96 digs per game and was fourth on the squad with 2.42 digs per game.
Kavanaugh, who becomes the fourth player on USI’s squad to earn a post-season honor, was the only player from the GLVC to be selected to the first team, with Indianapolis’s Emily Kubala and Angela Ranta being selected second and third team, respectively.
