Boehmer named All-Region
Third USI player to ever be named All-Region
University of Southern Indiana sophomore setter Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region team for the 2001 season. Boehmer becomes only the third USI player to ever be named to the All-Region.
Prior to Boehmer, Sheri Kaiser was named to the AVCA All-Region squad in 1993, while current junior outside hitter Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) was named to the Daktronics' team last fall.
Boehmer, who was named first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference earlier this month, set the USI single-season assists record for the second straight season (1,271). She has moved over 2,500 assists and into second place all-time at USI in just two seasons.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native, who averaged 12.5 assists a game, also helped USI tie the school record for hitting percentage (.267) this fall.
The Screaming Eagles finished 2001 with 22-10 overall record, in a tie for first in the GLVC’s Green Division with a league record of 11-4, and placed second in the GLVC Tournament. USI also was ranked sixth in the final NCAA Divisvion II Great Lakes Region poll.
