Stuckman finalist for 2002 Kodak All-America team
University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois) is listed among the finalists for the 2002 Division II Kodak All-America team, in announcement by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The Eastman Kodak Company. Stuckman joins four players from District IV and 35 players from seven other districts in earning at least honorable mention honors.
A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Quincy, Illinois, Stuckman led the Eagles to a 27-6 overall record, a 16-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference record, the GLVC Tournament Championship, and the number one seed in the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament. She averaged a conference-best 20.5 points per game and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per contest and earned first-team All-GLVC honors as well as GLVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player for the second consecutive year.
Stuckman, the 2001 GLVC Freshman of the Year, broke LeAnn Freeland’s record for total points in a season (676)—Freeland scored 674 point in 32 games—and became the first player since Freeland to average 20.0 points per game. She also was named to the 2002 NCAA II Great Lakes All-Tournament team.
Stuckman also is on the final ballot for Daktronics All-America honors, voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She received Daktronics All-Region honors as well as Verizon Academic All-District V honors earlier this year.
WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical districts vote for the team and Player of the Year. The Division II Kodak Women’s All-America Basketball Team will be announced Tuesday, March 19.
