Cooper comes to USI for women’s basketball
Junior forward Lindsey Cooper (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has signed a grant-and-aid to play women’s basketball at the University of Southern Indiana. Cooper is the eighth player to commit to USI Head Coach Rick Stein for the 2002-03 season.
Cooper played last season for Kirkwood Community College, the NJCAA Division II National Champion that is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The second team All-Region performer averaged 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 assists per contest as a sophomore. The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, also was named the KCC Defensive Player of the Year.
Prior to her two seasons at KCC, Cooper lettered in basketball at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was named second team All-State and first team All-Conference and All-Metro while averaging 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
“Lindsey is a very good player who can get it done on both ends of the court,” said Stein. “She has a toughness about her and was an obvious lead for a team that won 33 games and a national championship.”
