The University of Southern Indiana men’s and women’s basketball teams will begin a Great Lakes Valley Conference homestand Thursday, December 5, when they host the University of Indianapolis. Game times Thursday are 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

For the first time this season, the USI women’s basketball team will play a game at the Physical Activities Center Thursday evening. The Screaming Eagles, 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference, have played their all four of their regular season games, as well as their only exhibition games, on the road.

The Eagles will be looking to get back on track against Indianapolis. USI lost to Bellarmine University, 61-59, after getting its first victory of the year against Kentucky Wesleyan College, 67-51.

USI newcomer Shajuan Lindsey (Midlothian, Illinois) has had the hot hand for the Eagles, leading the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game. The junior forward has posted double figures in three of her first four games with USI.

Close behind Lindsey is senior forward/center Africa Sherrod (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida). Sherrod is averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also has had a double-double in her last three games.

The Indianapolis women’s basketball team enters Thursday’s action with a 3-1 overall record, 1-1 GLVC. The Greyhounds opened GLVC action with a loss to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, 72-55, but bounced back to defeat Quincy University, 57-55.

The Greyhounds are led by sophomore guard Erin Moran, who is averaging 19.0 points per game. She is joined in double-figure scoring by senior forward Kristen Lowry with 13.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.
