After falling behind by 14 midway through the second half, the Eagles fought back to get to with in four points with just over three minutes to play in regulation. The Eagles had a chance to get even closer, but the Greyhounds closed the door on the comeback attempt by hitting seven of their last 11 free throw attempts.
For the game, the Greyhounds went 21-of-29 from the charity stripe while the Eagles converted 10-of-14 free throw attempts.
Both teams shot the ball well, but the Greyhounds hit 5-of-7 from behind the arc and outscored the Eagles 10-4 in second chance points. Indianapolis also edged USI, 30-26, on the boards.
Junior forward Shajuan Lindsey (Midlothian, Illinois) and junior guard/forward Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) scored 10 and eight points, respectively, to follow Sherrod in the scoring column. Sherrod led the Eagles with eight rebounds.
Senior forward Kristen Lowry led the Greyhounds with 23 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
