The University of Southern Indiana Athletic Department named assistant women's basketball coach Randa Gatling its senior woman administrator, a position left open by the departure of LeAnn Freeland.
A 1999 USI graduate with a bachelor’s degree in social work and a native of Evansville, Indiana, Gatling is returning for her fifth season on the Screaming Eagles women’s basketball coaching staff. She also becomes the top assistant to USI head coach Rick Stein.
Among her SWA responsibilities, Gatling will be in charge of USI’s Eagle Math program.
“Randa has been a huge asset to our department during the last four years,” director of athletics Jon Mark Hall said. “We are excited to have her join the administrative side of our department as she will provide a great leadership for our student athletes and staff.”
USI also announced that former USI women’s basketball player Casey Nations (O’Fallon, Illinois) has been named assistant women’s basketball coach. Nations will assist in all facets of the USI women’s basketball program. (more)
