Jolly signs with USI women’s basketball
The University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team announced that 5’9” guard Marshay Jolly (Merrillville, Indiana) has signed a national letter of intent for the 2004-05 season. Jolly is the first player to sign with Head Coach Rick Stein’s Screaming Eagles this spring and the second player since the early signing period.
Jolly, a senior at Merrillville High School, was a four-time team MVP as well as a four-time All-Duneland Athletic Conference selection. She also was voted to the Tremendous 26 list as a senior in 2003-04.
During her senior campaign, Jolly was second on the team with 10.8 points and third on the team with 4.6 rebounds per game. She shot 47 percent from the field to help lead MHS to a conference title and an 18-3 overall record, 13-1 in the DAC.
In 2002-03, Jolly was a junior All-Star and was named the Prep Athlete of the Week. She also was named the Player of the Week in January of 2002.
“We are excited to have Marshay join our program,” Stein said. “She is a fantastic athlete that brings an all-around game. She is a good scorer, solid rebounder, and strong defender.
“Marshay will fit nicely into our style of play on both ends of the floor,” Stein concluded.
Jolly joins 6’1” forward/center Jessica Minnick (Carmi, Illinois) to have signed an NLI to play at USI next season.
