USI women’s basketball adds freshman guard
The University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team announced that 5'6" guard Nicole McDonald (Portage, Indiana) committed to play basketball for the Screaming Eagles in 2004-05. McDonald is the fifth player to either sign or commit to play for Head Coach Rick Stein’s Screaming Eagles for the upcoming season.
McDonald earned nine varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, and softball during her career at Portage High School. She was PHS’s most valuable player as a junior and a senior and earned the Coach’s Award as a sophomore.
An All-Area performer as a senior in 2003-04, McDonald also earned All-Conference honors as a junior and senior.
“Nicole is a talented point guard who can make plays for herself and her teammates,” Stein said. “Her best basketball is still ahead of her and Nichole will excel in our style of play.”
Other players to have committed or signed with the Eagles for the 2004-05 season are 5’11” junior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois), 5’4” junior point guard Tiara Brown (Normal, Illinois), 5’9” freshman guard Marshay Jolly (Merrillville, Indiana), and 6’1” freshman forward/center Jessica Minnick (Carmi, Illinois).
