USI’s Engleking earns GLVC honors
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Senior forward/center Andrea Engleking (Charlottesville, Indiana) was named the GLVC Player of the Week for her performance in leading the University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team to 2-0 record last week and the GLIAC/GLVC Holiday Classic championship.
Engleking, who is the GLVC Player of the Week for the first time in her career, averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds to lead the Screaming Eagles to victories over Northwood University and Ferris State University.
She started her week with a 17-point, 10-rebound performance in a 65-58 victory over host Northwood. It was Engleking’s first career double-double as a member of the USI women’s basketball team.
Engleking wrapped up the week with a 14-point, six-rebound performance in a thrilling 82-81 victory over Ferris State. Engleking sunk two free throws late in the game to give the Eagles the lead for good.
