Eagles add 6’2” JUCO transfer
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team announced that 6’2” junior post player Sarah Buldtman (Metropolis, Illinois) will continue her basketball career with Head Coach Rick Stein’s Screaming Eagles. Buldtman is the third women’s basketball player to sign a national letter of intent for the 2005-06 season.
Buldtman transfers from John A. Logan College where she averaged 5.0 points and 4.9 rebounds as a sophomore in 2004-05 after an elbow injury limited her to just 22 games.
“With the addition of Sarah we have filled some major size needs in the post,” Stein explained. “Sarah was somewhat limited this year on her play due to her elbow injury, but seems to be fully recovered.”
As a freshman, Buldtman averaged 9.5 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game, including a season-high 13 against Dyersburg State Community College. She scored in double figures 14 times, including a season-best 19 points on three occasions, pulled down 10 or more rebounds seven times.
A graduate of Massac County High School, Buldtman was an All-State selection as a senior after earning honorable mention All-State honors during her junior year. She led the MCHS to the IHSA super-sectional and played in the prestigious IBCA All-Star game as a senior.
“Sarah is very athletic, a strong rebounder and defender, and can really run the floor for her size,” Stein added.
Buldtman joins 6’2” freshman post player Brittany Neuman (Huntingburg, Indiana) and 5’4” freshman point guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) in signing an NLI for next season. The Eagles also have added 6’0” sophomore forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana), who is transferring from Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis.
