Eagles fall in GLVC opener

ROLLA, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team fell to the University of Missouri-Rolla, 60-47, in its GLVC opener Thursday evening at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.
USI (4-4, 0-1 GLVC) shot just 35.7 percent from the field, 9.1 percent from three-point range, and got scoring contributions from just four players as the Screaming Eagles lost for the first time in five contests.

(South Holland, Illinois) had a game-high 19 points, while sophomore forward Jasmine Baines
(Jeffersonville, Indiana) finished with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Freshman forward/center Jessica Minnick
(Carmi, Illinois) and senior guard Tiara Brown
(Normal, Illinois) rounded out USI's scorers with eight and five points, respectively.
UM-Rolla (5-0, 1-0 GLVC) shot 48.1 percent from the floor despite going 0-of-8 from three-point range. The Lady Miners got 17 points from Tamara McCaskill and 16 points from Jaime Forsberg as they won for the fifth straight time.
The Eagles return to action Saturday when they travel to St. Louis to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. USI returns home a week from tonight to host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 5:15 p.m.
