Foul trouble, NKU defense stop Eagles
@Northern Kentucky 62, USI 43
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.—For the second consecutive game, the University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team got into foul trouble and for the second consecutive game, the Screaming Eagles could not overcome that trouble.
Saturday, Northern Kentucky University (10-3, 4-2 GLVC) used a tough defensive performance and attacked the Eagles defenders as the Norse defeated USI 62-43 at Regents Hall.
USI (10-7, 2-4 GLVC) sent the Norse to the line 39 times—NKU made good on 31 attempts—and shot just 30.2 percent from the field as it fell for the second consecutive time.
The Eagles raced out to a 15-8 advantage in the first half, but NKU countered with a 13-1 run that gave the Norse the lead for good. USI trailed at the break, 29-22, and could not get any closer as NKU held the Eagles to a 25.0 shooting percentage in the second half.
