The Eagles also got solid performances out of senior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois) and junior guard Akiya Alexander (Evanston, Illinois). Brandon finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Alexander had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
This marks the first-ever women's basketball meeting between USI and Morehead State. MSU, which was 16-13 overall and 11-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference last season, has been picked to finish second in the OVC in 2006-07.
LaKrisha Brown is Morehead State's leading returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 15.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game in 2005-06. Brown earned first-team All-OVC honors a year ago and was named preseason first-team All-OVC this season.
USI opens the regular season November 15 when it travels to Warrensburg, Missouri, to take on the University of Central Missouri.
