Eagles ranked seventh in region
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team is ranked seventh in the first NCAA II Great Lakes Region poll.
It marks the first time since the 2003-04 season that the Screaming Eagles have appeared in the regional rankings.
USI (11-6, 5-4 GLVC), which qualified for the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament in 2003-04, was joined in the rankings by six other GLVC schools.
No. 9 Lewis University claimed the top spot in the region, while Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Bellarmine University were second and third, respectively. Northern Kentucky University was sixth, while Drury University and Kentucky Wesleyan College rounded out the top 10.
The GLIAC's Grand Valley State University was fourth, while Ferris State University and Gannon University were fifth and ninth, respectively.
USI is looking to stop a four-game skid when it visits Lewis Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles also play the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 1 p.m. in a game that can be seen on PennAtlantic.com.
