Game Notes (pdf.)
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Senior forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana) will be looking to move up in the record books this weekend when the University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team visits Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Quincy University.
USI (9-14, 4-11 GLVC) takes on SIU Edwardsville Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Edwardsville, Illinois, and Quincy Saturday at 1 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois. Fans wearing pink will be admitted into the USI-SIU Edwardsville game free of charge.
Baines, who is fourth in the GLVC in scoring (17.3 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.3 rpg), needs just 15 points to move past Connie VanMeter for seventh all-time at USI in career scoring. She currently ranks 12th all-time at USI with 474 rebounds.
SIU Edwardsville (15-9, 8-8 GLVC) is trying to stop a two-game losing streak after falling at Quincy, 98-82, Tuesday evening. The Cougars trail USI in the all-time series, 24-23, but defeated the Eagles, 73-70, at the Physical Activities Center earlier this season to draw even in the series since 2000.
Senior guard/forward Amber Shelton leads the Cougars with 21.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Quincy (16-8, 11-5 GLVC) has won two straight games and leads the GLVC with nearly 80 points per contest. USI leads the all-time series, 16-15, with the Lady Hawks, but Quincy defeated the Eagles, 69-64, at the PAC earlier in the year and leads the series, 12-6, since 2000.
Junior guard Jessica Keller leads the Hawks with 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per contest.
USI finishes the regular season next weekend when it hosts Missouri University S&T February 28 and the University of Missouri-St. Louis March 1. The USI-Missouri S&T game is USI's "Think Pink" game, while the USI-Missouri-St. Louis contest is Senior Day for the Eagles.
