Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team shot just 27.9 percent from the floor and was out-rebounded 47-30 as it lost to No. 15 Hillsdale College 70-55 Saturday night in the Indianapolis Classic.
USI (3-2) found itself playing catch-up from the start as the Chargers (3-0) raced out to a 6-0 lead. The Screaming Eagles cut the deficit down to a point with a 5-0 run and later tied the score at 13, but a 10-3 scamper put Hillsdale up 23-16 with less than seven minutes to play in the opening period.
Once again, the Eagles answered the Chargers' run with a 7-0 spurt to tie the score with less than five minutes to play in the first half. Hillsdale, however, reeled off nine straight points and finished the half with a 16-4 run to take a 39-27 lead at the break.
The Chargers, who got a game-high 29 points, 19 rebounds, and four blocks from senior forward Katie Cezat, the reigning region player of the year, extended their lead to as many as 20 in the second stanza before settling for the 15-point win.
