Host Lake Erie Wednesday
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team gets a break from GLVC play when it hosts Midwest Region foe Lake Erie College Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center.
USI's contest with the Storm of Lake Erie is the last non-conference game of the regular season for the Screaming Eagles.
The Eagles (12-9) are coming off a thrilling 90-86 double-overtime win against Drury University this past Saturday. Senior forward/center Brittany Neuman (Huntingburg, Indiana) led the Eagles with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Neuman, who was 11-of-13 from the field and 5-of-5 in the two overtime periods, scored 12 of her points after regulation.
Sophomore guard Ellen Young (Salem, Illinois), who had 22 points in the win over Drury, leads USI and ranks 10th in the GLVC with 14.0 points per contest, while fellow classmate Amie Newhart (Mulberry, Indiana) is second on the team and 28th in the conference with 10.6 points per appearance.
Neuman is fourth in the GLVC with a team-best 7.7 rebounds per contest and ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.549). She also is third on the team with 9.6 points per game.
Lake Erie (6-18), which visits No. 6 Northern Kentucky University Tuesday evening, is looking to buck a four-game losing streak. Rogers is second on the team with 6.7 rebounds per appearance, while sophomore forward Alyssa Rogers leads the squad with 8.7 boards per game.
